Man Accused of Threatening Officer With Homemade Machete

More charges are expected to be filed

A Vermont man is facing charges after allegedly threatening an officer with a homemade machete.

Thirty-seven-year-old Joseph Devino of St. Albans was charged with assault on a law enforcement officer and aggravated disorderly conduct, according to affiliate NBC 5.

St. Albans police say the incident happened Sunday evening when an officer went to Devino's apartment on Sheldon Road to investigate a report of a stolen car.

The officer reportedly found the stolen car in Devino's driveway, and when he approached him, Devino began insulting and threatening the officer, eventually going to into his garage and coming out with a homemade machete, NBC 5 reported.

Eventually, other officers arrived to the scene, and Devino was arrested.

NBC 5 reports that investigators also found other stolen property in Devino's garage.

More charges are expected to be filed.
