A dispute between neighbors in Massachusetts turned deadly Monday evening after one shot the other, according to Worcester police.

Officers responded to 92 Hamilton St. around 6 p.m. for a reported shooting.

The found the victim, 24, unconscious on the front lawn, suffering from a single gunshot wound. Another man was attempting to apply pressure on the wound.

Several bystanders pointed to the back of the home, where officers found 42-year-old Jacinto Maldonado, of 92 Hamilton St.

Maldonado was lying on his chest with his arms apart. A firearm was found near him. He was placed in handcuffs as a precaution, but was not arrested at that time.

Roughly 20 minutes later, the victim was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Maldonado was brought to the police department for questioning.

Investigation showed there was an argument between Maldonado and the victim, during which the victim was shot.

Maldonado has been charged with Aggravated Assault and Battery with the Intent to Cause Serious Bodily Injury.

    Additional charges may be pending.

It's not clear if Maldonado has an attorney.
