A Haverhill, Massachusetts, man was arrested and arraigned for his alleged scheme to use fraudulent prescriptions to illegally obtain Oxycodone pills.
Naman Spencer, 37, was arrested on Thursday and arraigned on charges of prescription fraud and identity theft, Attorney General Maura Healey announced.
Authorities say Spencer allegedly obtained 16 fraudulent prescriptions for Oxycodone tablets and tried to obtain the drug between in Oct. and Nov. of 2014. The fraudulent prescriptions were created using the names of three doctors.
Spencer allegedly diverted 1,500 tablets, with a value of roughly $15,000.
Authorities learned of Spencer following their investigation into Vincent Leo. Leo was indicted on more than 100 counts of prescription fraud, credit fraud and identity theft. Leo to allegedly created hundreds of fraudulent prescriptions.
Spencer pleaded not guilty to the charges against him. His bail was set at $10,000. He is due back in court for a pre-trial conference on Feb. 24.
