The Bristol County District Attorney's office has identified the victim of the Tuesday collision

A pedestrian has died and a suspected hit-and-run driver has been charged with leaving the scene near downtown Attleboro, Massachusetts.

The Bristol County District Attorney's office has identified the victim of the Tuesday collision as 60-year-old Attleboro resident David Nepini. He died Tuesday night at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence.

The driver charged with leaving the crash scene is 38-year-old Neetu Kainth of Plainville.

Attleboro police and rescue crews responded to calls of a pedestrian being struck around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday near the intersection of North Main and Peck streets. They found the injured victim but not the driver.

Police say the driver called the Plainville Police Department later Tuesday evening. The investigation is ongoing. An arraignment date hasn't been scheduled.
