Man Assaulted Wife Before Taping of ‘Maury' Show: Police

A man who was supposed to appear on an episode of "Maury" was arrested and charged with assaulting his wife before the show's taping.

Daryl Edwards, 20, of Detroit, was arrested Tuesday night after police say he got into an argument with his wife, hit her and strangled her in a Stamford hotel.

The couple was in Stamford to be a part of an episode of Maury Povich's talk show in which Edwards would learn if he was the father of his wife's baby. The show never taped after Edwards' arrest.

According to police, Edwards and his wife argued at the Stamford Suites hotel and that is when Edwards allegedly assaulted her.

Edwards was arrested and held on $25,000 bond. He is scheduled to be back in court on Jan. 5.

"Maury" is distributed by NBC Universal and the show is taped at the NBC Universal studios in Stamford. NBC Connecticut is owned by NBC Universal.
