Mass. Man Charged After Fiery Race Crash

Rhode Island State Police say two cars were drag racing on Interstate 195 in East Providence.

Rhode Island State Police say two cars were drag racing on Interstate 195 in East Providence when one of the cars lost control, crashed into a light pole and burst into flames.

Police say the crash happened Tuesday night near Exit 5. The two occupants of the crashed Nissan refused medical treatment. A 20-year-old Rehoboth, Massachusetts man who was driving was arrested on a charge of drag racing. He was arraigned Tuesday night.

Police are looking for the second vehicle involved in the accident.

All eastbound lanes were closed as emergency crews extinguished a fire. All lanes have been reopened. The Department of Transportation sent a crew to clear the remaining debris.
