Man Charged After Fleeing Scene of Multiple Crashes

    Man Charged After Fleeing Scene of Multiple Crashes

    A Rutland, Vermont, man was arrested and held on $25,000 bail after striking a state police cruiser with his vehicle and fleeing the scene of two separate crashes, in an attempt to evade officers who were pursuing him.

    Randall Reynolds was operating his vehicle without headlights after dark when a police officer in the area attempted to pull him over late Monday night. Reynolds failed to stop for the officer and proceeded to drive off, police say.

    Reynolds struck a parked tractor-trailer and then slammed into a police cruiser while fleeing a McDonald's parking lot on Park Street.

    The susepct exceded speeds of 80 mph as officers pursued him, according to officials. Reynolds lost control of his vehicle at an intersection on Forrest Street, crashed into a fence and several gravestones at a cemetery. Reynolds than attempted to flee the scene on foot.

    Police officials set up a perimeter and called in dogs in an effort to locate Reynolds. He was later found early Tuesday morning in the town of Pittsford.

    Reynolds was taken to the the Marble Valley Regional Correctional Facility and held on bail pending a court hearing Tuesday at 12:30 p.m.

    Police charged Reynolds with attempting to elude law enforcement, gross negligent operation of a motor vehicle, two counts of leaving the scene of a crash with property damage and driving with a criminally suspended license.
