Man Charged After Allegedly Putting 2 Year Old in Dryer

Adam Morton of Berlin, NH, being held on $2,500 cash bail

A New Hampshire man has been charged with aggravated assault after allegedly placing a two-year-old boy in a clothes dryer and turning it on, according to WCSH.

Adam Morton, 27, of Berlin admitted to investigators that he put the boy in the dryer in early August, according to court documents.

The boy suffered second-degree burns on his back, on his arms, and his feet.

The police affidavit also said that Dr. Lawrence Ricci conducted a forensic examination of the boy and concluded the child was in the dryer for a "fairly prolonged period of time. And the dryer, indeed, may have actually been turning."

Investigators took the dryer and after five minutes of a "low" setting, the dryer reached 125 degrees.

The boy is Morton's girlfriend's son.

Morton was staying with his girlfriend and her four children on Bolling Drive in Bangor when the incident happened.

The affidavit said other children in the home said Morton "does mean things" to the two year old.

Morton faces a charge of aggravated assault and is in custody at Penobscot County Jail. He is being held on $2,500.
