Man Charged With 4th OUI After Chase, Crash

According to Massachusetts State Police, Edward Arnold of Wales was under the influence of drugs when they followed him from Auburn to Framingham, where he crashed, on the Massachusetts Turnpike.

Police say a man who had already been arrested three times for driving on drugs was on drugs when they chased him from Auburn to Framingham, where he crashed his car, on the Massachusetts Turnpike.

According to Massachusetts State Police, 44-year-old Edward Arnold of Wales was driving erratically on I-90 eastbound in Auburn. When a cruiser tried to stop him, he sped off.

When police found his car, which went off the road into the woods in Framingham, no one was in it. Arnold was found walking on the ramp to Route 9. He had been injured in the crash and was taken to Newton Wellesley Hospital.

Arnold faces his fourth charge of operating under the influence of drugs. He is also charged with failure to stop, reckless operation, speeding, driving in the breakdown lane, leaving the scene of a crash that caused personal injury, operating after revocation and failure to stay within marked lanes.

State police say Arnold is expected be arraigned Monday.
