Man Charged With Cultural Center Arson Held Without Bail

A man accused of starting a fire at a Providence, Rhode Island, cultural center was ordered to be held without bail in court Monday, according to necn affiliate WJAR.

Michael Weed, 55, is accused of starting the fire at the Southside Cultural Center on Broad Street after he was asked to leave Saturday.

Police say Weed was in a cubicle and was lighting a stack of papers on fire. The flames were quickly put out.

Officials say the damage is minor and insurance should cover the repairs.
