Man Charged in 2013 Kidnapping, Killing Heads to Trial

Jury selection in the trial of 30-year-old Edwin Alemany is expected to start Monday in Suffolk Superior Court

The trial of a man charged with kidnapping, robbing and killing a Boston woman, then leaving her body in a city park is scheduled to start.

So far, eight jurors have been empanelled and eight more have yet to be seated in the murder trial of 30-year-old Edwin Alemany, which started Monday in Suffolk Superior Court.

Alemany is charged with the July 2013 killing of 24-year-old Amy Lord.

Prosecutors say Lord, a Wilbraham native and Bentley University graduate, was beaten, then forced to use her own SUV to drive to several ATMs and withdraw money. She was then forced to drive to Stony Brook Reservation, where she was killed.

Alemany is also being tried at the same time for allegedly assaulting three other women.

Alemany's lawyers have said their client has a history of mental illness and they plan an insanity defense.
