A Massachusetts man was arrested over the weekend on his 4th drunken driving charge after police saw him driving the wrong way up a one-way street.
Ronald Royse, 48, of Acton, is charged with operating under the influence of alcohol (fourth offense), operating with a suspended license (subsequent offense), a one-way street violation, a motor vehicle lights violation and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
He was held on $10,000 cash bail pending his arraignment Monday morning in Concord District Court.
Maynard Police said an officer patrolling Nason Street at 1:16 a.m. on Saturday noticed a vehicle with no active headlights or taillights travelling the wrong way up the road.
When the officer pulled him over, Royse immediately got out of the vehicle and put his hands in the air.
Police said they noticed that he had slurred speech and a strong odor of alcohol coming from him. He failed multiple field sobriety tests, and a breath test showed he was well over the legal limit of 0.08.
