A jury has acquitted a former employee of a western Massachusetts pizza parlor who had been charged with raping a teenage co-worker.
Leonel Olmedo was cleared Monday after two hours of jury deliberations of one count of rape and two counts of indecent assault and battery.
Prosecutors say the 27-year-old Olmedo groped the 17-year-old girl on at least two occasions and raped her in January while the two were in the basement of Supreme Pizza in North Adams. The pizza shop has since closed.
Olmedo's attorney, Richard Leblanc, said the relationship was consensual and Olmedo was not her supervisor.
The attorney said the two agreed to keep their relationship a secret.
