A Holyoke, Massachusetts, man has been convicted of first-degree murder for stabbing another man in the neck during a dispute in 2014.
The Republican newspaper reports that a Hampden Superior Court jury took less than four hours Wednesday to find Jorge Rodriguez-Nieves guilty of first-degree murder in the stabbing of Angel David Morales.
The 42-year-old Rodriguez-Nieves faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison without parole when he is sentenced Friday.
Prosecutors say Rodriguez-Nieves stabbed the 33-year-old Morales in the neck on July 13, 2014, severing a major artery and his windpipe. They say the suspect was angry because he thought Morales was saying that Rodriguez-Nieves was cheating on his wife.
A defense attorney pointed to inconsistencies in witness statements.
