Man Dies Weeks After Stabbing at Denny's Restaurant in Portland, Maine

Authorities in Maine say a man who was stabbed at a Portland Denny's restaurant parking lot in late April has died.

Portland police announced on Friday that 31-year-old Anthony Best from Veazie died from injuries sustained in the April 28 stabbing.

No one has been charged in the stabbing and it's still being investigated.

Police say the incident may have been race-related.

"At least at some point, racial slurs were used," Portland Police Assistant Chief Vernon Malloch said. "Whether that precipitated this, we can't say."

Two groups of men were involved in a fight around midnight that day inside a nearby stripclub and were kicked out. Police the groups met up again at the restaurant's parking lot.

By the time police arrived, blood could be seen near the front door of the establishment, and the suspects had left the scene in a car.
