Man Faces Arson Charge in Vermont Yankee Office Fire

A Montpelier man has been charged in a 2011 fire that damaged the Vermont Yankee nuclear plant's corporate offices in Brattleboro.

The Brattleboro Reformer reports that 32-year-old Anthony Gotavaskas has been charged with arson.

The fire occurred in September 2011 at a building containing the nuclear plant's communication equipment, its public relations office and emergency response center. Sprinklers held the fire at bay and fire damage was minor, but officials say the building sustained moderate water and smoke damage.

Authorities say it's an ongoing investigation and additional charges may be pending against him.

It's unknown if Gotavaskas is being represented by an attorney.
