Man Faces Child Sexual Assault Charge

The Franklin County Sheriff's Office has charged a former Farmington, Maine, man with sexually assaulting a child five years ago.

Sheriff Scott Nichols Sr. says 39-year-old Shawn Flagg, of Stetson, was arrested Monday on a felony charge of gross sexual assault.

Deputies received a referral from another law enforcement agency requesting the Franklin County Sheriff's Office investigate an incident that occurred five years ago. Investigators went to the Penobscot County Jail in Bangor where Flagg was being held on unrelated charges. After the interview, Flagg was charged in the Franklin County case.

Flagg is being held on $10,000 cash bail in the Franklin County incident.

It's not known if he has a lawyer

Police only said that the alleged victim was under 18.
