A Rhode Island man is facing charges in connection with a hit-and-run crash that left a motorcyclist hospitalized with critical injuries on Saturday night in Warwick.

Officers responded to the crash on West Shore Road at about 10 p.m. where they located the motorcyclist in the roadway.

Witnesses told police that the SUV driver who struck the victim had fled the scene.

The 33-year-old motorcyclist, who has not been identified, was taken to Rhode Island Hospital where he remains.

The driver of the SUV was located a short time later in a nearby parking lot with the help of witnesses.

He was identified as Brian Larkin, 48, of Warwick. Larkin was scheduled to appear before a bail commission on charges of DUI serious injury and duty to stop in accident resulting in personal injury.

Police said an initial investigation revealed that drugs were a factor in the crash.
