A Sanford, Maine, resident who was drunk and driving 40 miles per hour over the speed limit when his car crashed, killing his wife, will spend two years in prison.

The Journal Tribune reports that Peter Hall was sentenced this week after pleading guilty to manslaughter in York County Superior Court. He received a 10-year sentence, with two years to serve, and four years of probation.

Prosecutors say the 49-year-old Hall had a blood-alcohol content of .15, nearly twice the legal limit to drive, and was going 80 miles per hour when failed to negotiate a turn on Route 4 and crashed on St. Patrick's Day, March 17, 2012.

His wife of 23 years, Toni Hall, died at the hospital.

Peter Hall's attorney says his client is wracked by guilt.
