Man on Trial For Fatal Shooting at Bee Farm

Testimony is continuing in the trial of a lobsterman accused of killing another man during a confrontation at a beekeeping business

Testimony is continuing in the trial of a Maine lobsterman accused of killing another man during a confrontation at a beekeeping business in North Yarmouth.

The prosecutor told jurors Monday that there was no need for Merrill "Mike" Kimball to use lethal force, saying a scuffle in October 2013 wasn't a "kill-or-be-killed situation." The defense contends Kimball, who was 70, defended himself from an assault.

Police say Kimball shot 63-year-old Leon Kelley multiple times. Kelley's father-in-law is owner of the business. Kimball's wife worked there and was retrieving honey before the shooting.

The gunshots could be heard on a 911 call made by Kelley's wife. She exclaimed, "He just shot my husband!"
