Man Indicted for Rape, Trafficking of Children

Sixty-two-year-old Thomas Vincent Rose, a Level 3 sex offender, is held on $250,000 bail.

A Level 3 sex offender from Massachusetts has been indicted for the rape and trafficking of two children, officials announced Tuesday.

Sixty-two-year-old Thomas Vincent Rose of Malden is charged with enticement of a child, human trafficking of a minor, child rape and aggravated child rape.

Prosecutors say that Rose gave a 14-year-old and a 15-year-old alcohol, marijuana and cash, sexually assaulting one of them and trying to recruit them into "commercial sexual activity."

Police in Winthrop took Rose into custody when they found him in his vehicle with a 22-year-old woman and the two teens.

Rose was convicted of rape in 1975 and sentenced to 15 to 20 years in prison. In 1988, he was found guilty of assault with intent to rape, receiving a sentence of nine to 10 years.

Because of those prior convictions, Rose will face enhanced penalties if he is convicted.

Rose's bail was set at $250,000. He is scheduled to return to court on Dec. 2.
