Man Pleads Guilty to Credit Union Robbery

Travis Mullen entered his plea in U.S. District Court on Wednesday in connection with the October robbery of the Community Credit Union

A Portland, Maine, man who robbed a Lewiston credit union and was later overheard on a police wiretap trying to order crack cocaine over the phone has pleaded guilty.

Travis Mullen entered his plea in U.S. District Court on Wednesday in connection with the October robbery of the Community Credit Union.

The Portland Press Herald (http://bit.ly/1HJYolu) reports the 35-year-old Mullen was masked when he entered the credit union and demanded money from the teller. He made off with nearly $4,500.

Within hours of the robbery, police listening to a court-authorized wiretap intercepted a call between Mullen and a drug dealer in which Mullen bragged about how much money he had. When he was arrested he had a note used in the robbery.

He is scheduled to be sentenced July 14.
