Police in Middlebury, Vermont, say a man accused of robbing 30 prescription pain pills from a pharmacy has pleaded not guilty.

Police said 40-year-old Michael Maheu of Ripton was charged with assault and robbery stemming from the incident Sunday night. The Rutland Herald reports he turned himself in to police on Monday and pleaded not guilty in Rutland criminal court Tuesday. He was held for lack of $5,000 bail.

Maheu was ordered to start a drug treatment program within seven days of his release.
