Man Rescues Ducks Crossing Highway in N.H.

A man got out of his car and rescued some ducklings that wandered onto a New Hampshire highway Friday.

Around noon, police got multiple calls that the young birds were on Everett Highway near Exit 10 in Merrimack. When they got there, they found Don Wylks of Manchester had corralled some of them, preventing them from going back onto the road.

In all, approximately 10 ducklings went out into traffic. Wylks was able to save four of them.

The surviving birds were taken to the Wings of the Dawn Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in Henniker, where Maria Colby provided aid.

New Hampshire State Police note that drivers should not stop to help animals that are trapped or injured, reccommending calling authorities instead.
