Man Sentenced for Gun Possession Charge

Marcus Williams was sentenced Thursday to more than six years in prison after pleading guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm in August

A Boston man has been sentenced to nearly seven years behind bars for illegal gun possession in connection with an incident outside a bar.

The Boston Globe reports
26-year-old Marcus Williams was sentenced Thursday to more than six years in prison after pleading guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm in August.

Prosecutors and his lawyer each requested the 80-month sentence.

Authorities say the Dorchester man argued with a woman at a bar on Stoughton Street in May 2012. Witnesses reported he threatened the woman before reaching for something in the hood of his car.

Police say a search of the vehicle yielded a loaded handgun wrapped in a rag.

Williams has a prior conviction for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
