Man Sentenced for Persuading 16-Year-Old Boy to Travel for Sex

A Massachusetts man has been sentenced to prison for persuading a 16-year-old boy to travel to New York to engage in sexual activity.

U.S. Attorney Carmen Ortiz says 53-year-old Ronald Brown, of Williamstown, was sentenced Tuesday in federal court in Springfield to 15 years behind bars followed by 10 years of probation.

Brown pleaded guilty in November 2015 to charges including interstate travel with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct with a minor. Brown is a registered sex offender with a prior conviction for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old.

Prosecutors say Brown gave the 16-year-old boy a one-way plane ticket to New Jersey and picked him up Jan. 19, 2013, at Newark International Airport before taking him to New York.

The boy was found after his mother reported him missing.
