Man Sentenced for Shooting, Wounding Cousin at Park in Lowell, Massachusetts

A Massachusetts man will serve about a decade behind bars after admitting he shot his cousin several times at a public park in Lowell.

The Sun reports 23-year-old David Delvalle was sentenced to serve 9 ½ to 10 ½ years in prison after pleading guilty to charges including armed assault with intent to murder following a one-day trial last week.

Police say Delvalle shot his cousin Victor Escotto three times at Eagle Park on June 23, 2015. The 21-year-old victim survived.

Escotto told officers that Delvalle approached him while he was playing basketball, gave him "a look" that he described as a stare-down and began firing.

Police say there had been some bad blood between the cousins for several months after Delvalle accused Escotto of breaking into his home.
