A Massachusetts man was sentenced to 17 to 20 years after being found guilty of manslaughter on Monday in the shooting death of a coworker.

Howard Pen, 56, of Worcester, was a security guard at the Albion rooming house, pulled a handgun from a bag and shot 52-year-old Lloyd Worster in the back just after the two had a fight in their workplace's office in January 2014.

The jury found that Penn had acted in self-defense; however, he had used excessive force in Worster's shooting, and had illegal possession of a firearm.
