Man Sentenced in Wife's Baseball Bat Beating

James Scarola will serve a concurrent sentence of 20 years to life

A Vermont man charged with beating his former wife nearly to death with a baseball bat and sexually assaulting her was sentenced Monday to 20 years to life in prison, according to WPTZ.

James Scarola pleaded guilty to aggravated domestic assault and no contest to attempted second degree murder and sexual assault. He will serve a concurrent sentence of 20 years to life on those charges. He will be sentenced later on a sexual assault charge.

He is accused of attacking and sexually assaulting his former wife in September 2013 in their Burlington home.
