Man Sentenced to Three to 13 Years for providing Heroine

Thomas Drake is charged with giving his best friend the heroine that killed him

A New Hampshire man has pleaded guilty to providing the heroin that killed his best friend in 2014.

WMUR-TV reports that 25-year-old Nicholas Austin of Newton was sentenced Friday to 3 to 13 years in prison, but could be eligible for parole after completing a drug program.

He and a Boston man were indicted in connection with the overdose death on Sept. 7, 2014 of 22-year-old Thomas Drake of Atkinson.

Austin apologized to Drake's family in court Friday, saying "Tommy" meant more to him than anything and that he will "miss him forever."

Drake's mother told Austin she loved him, but would expect her own son to serve time had the circumstances been reversed.

U.S. Marshals continue to search for 38-year-old Felix Aguilar of Boston.
