    A man was seriously injured and had to be extricated from his vehicle after a crash Thursday in Newport, New Hampshire.

    Police responded to the crash at 7:20 p.m. on John Stark Highway. A Honda CRV struck a tree and a telephone pole.

    Crews used the Jaws of Life to free 44-year-old Brett Kellerman of Washington, New Hampshire, from the vehicle.

    Kellerman, the only occupant of the vehicle, was airlifted to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.

    The extent and nature of Kellerman's injuries are not known.

    Police are investigating the crash.
