Man Seriously Injured in Wallagrass, Maine Crash

Maine State Police say Rene Valcort's pick-up truck crashed into a utility pole, which knocked out power for two hours

A man was seriously injured when his pick-up truck crashed into a utility pole after drifting off the road in Maine, state police said.

Authorities say 49-year-old Rene Valcort of Fort Kent was driving north on Route 11 in Wallagrass when his 2008 Ford pick-up truck drifted off the roadway and into a ditch. The truck then hit a culvert head, causing it to go airborne, hit a tree and then a utility pole, which caused a utility pole on the opposite side of the road to snap.

Maine State Police say Valcort was taken out of his truck with the Jaws of Life and then medflighted to a Bangor hospital.

The power was out for about two hours in the area, and the investigation is ongoing.
