A Bridgeport man is accused of sexually assaulting a woman after finding her lost dog and returning it to her.
City officials said the alleged assault happened in July and 30-year-old Robert Rivera is accused of assaulting an 18-year-old woman.
The victim lost her dog and Rivera found it, brought it to her and sexually assaulted the woman, according to police.
Rivera told officers that he found the woman’s dog but did not rape her, police said, but DNA evidence connected him to the assault.
Rivera was arrested on Nov. 23 and charged with first-degree sexual assault and unlawful restraint.
He was released on $250,000 bond and is due in court on Dec. 2. It's not clear if he has an attorney.
