Man Shoots Home Invasion Suspect

Police say a Springfield, Massachusetts, man was justified when he shot one of two brothers who had forced their way into his home last weekend

Police say a Springfield, Massachusetts, man was justified when he shot one of two brothers who had forced their way into his home last weekend.

The man was home with his 3-year-old daughter shortly after midnight Saturday when the East Longmeadow brothers began kicking the door.

Sgt. John Delaney says the suspects threatened to "light up the house," and apparently thought the resident was someone else.

Once inside, the suspects advanced on the homeowner, who opened fire, striking one.

The suspects fled, but were arrested nearby.

They were identified as 24-year-old Jordan Eady and 22-year-old Jovan Eady. Jordan Eady was treated for a gunshot wound. They face charges including armed burglary and threat to murder.

The resident's firearm was properly licensed and police called the incident "a justified self-defense shooting."
