A man was rushed to Boston Medical Center after being shot in Dorchester and a search for the suspect is underway, police confirm.
According to Boston Police, the 41-year-old victim was shot while working on his car on Dorchester Avenue, which was busy as families were returning home during the evening commute. A school is just two blocks away.
Someone opened fire down the street with a high-capacity handgun, police said. Fifteen rounds were fired.
One bullet hit the victim, going through his left arm and out his neck.
The victim is undergoing surgery at Boston Medical Center.
Police do not believe the incident to be related to a separate shooting that happened about three quarters of a mile away Monday.
