Authorities say a 29-year-old man shot in the leg during what police say was a drug deal in Pittsfield earlier this week has died.
The Berkshire district attorney's office says Anthony Gamache, of Goshen, died at the hospital Wednesday night, a day after he was shot while sitting in a car in the parking lot of a supermarket. An autopsy is scheduled.
The 18-year-old Pittsfield man charged with shooting Gamache is scheduled in court Friday for a dangerousness hearing.
The Berkshire Eagle reports that Peter Campbell has pleaded not guilty to charges including assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. It's unclear if charges will be upgraded in light of Gamache's death.
Police say Campbell and another man met Gamache and two friends in the lot for a drug deal.
