Man Stole From Elderly Victims at Cemetery: Police

Hartford police have arrested a man they say was targeting elderly victims, stealing from their cars as they visited the graves of loved ones at the Cedar Hill Cemetery on Fairfield Avenue.

There have been 10 thefts at the cemetery reported in the past six weeks, according to police.

After weeks of investigating, officers developed leads on a suspect a vehicle that may have been involved with the thefts.

An officer spotted the suspected car in a parking lot on Maple Avenue on Wednesday and found several stolen items inside. The vehicle was also stolen, police said.

Officers arrested 40-year-old Alfredo Claudio. He is charged with third-degree larceny, theft of a plate and other charges.

The stolen items were returned to their rightful owners, police said.
