A Derry, New Hampshire, man suffered severe burns to the face Friday after authorities say smoking near a medical oxygen tank ignited a fire.
The man, who was not identified, was taken to a local hospital then airlifted to a Boston medical facility, according to Derry Fire officials.
The fire, on Island Pond Road, was extinguished by a family member of the man. Firefighters ventilated the building.
Salem Fire Department assisted at the scene.
