Man Wanted in Violent 1994 Attack Found in Jamaica

State police say Arnold Gabbidon was returned to Massachusetts on Wednesday night

A man on the state police most wanted fugitive list for allegedly stabbing and slashing his ex-girlfriend as she slept in her Cambridge home more than 20 years ago is back in Massachusetts to face the charges.

State police say Arnold Gabbidon was returned to Massachusetts on Wednesday night.

The 59-year-old Gabbidon was arrested last month after he was tracked to Jamaica, where he was living with a relative.

He is charged with armed assault with intent to murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, mayhem, stalking and other offenses in connection with the January 1994 attack.

State police say Gabbidon broke down the woman's door and attacked her as she slept, leaving her for dead. She survived.

It's not clear if he has a lawyer in Massachusetts yet.
