Man to Serve 20 Years for Involvement in Family Drug Ring

A Maine man will serve 20 years in prison for his involvement in a family drug ring.

The Portland Press Herald reports 57-year-old Dale Pinkham, of Buxton, pleaded guilty to one count each of conspiracy to distribute heroin, conspiracy to possess stolen firearms and attempted witness tampering in September. Pinkham was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Portland on Wednesday.

Authorities say Pinkham worked with family members from November 2012 to November 2014 to buy heroin in Massachusetts which they sold to Maine buyers. Prosecutors say Pinkham wrote letters from jail directing family members to hide stolen guns and threaten witnesses after he was arrested in 2014.

Three of Pinkham's family members were sentenced last year.
