Mass. AG Seeks Crackdown on Online Sex Ads After Escort's Murder

The Middlesex DA believes the two men facing charges were targeting female escorts and using online classified sites to find their victims

Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey wants to see a crackdown on online classified sites after a female escort was murdered inside a Burlington, Massachusetts, hotel room.

Middlesex DA Marion Ryan believes the two men facing charges were targeting female escorts and using online classified sites to find their victims, something that is now raising concerns of state leaders.

Those two men are being held without bail, facing murder charges after 34-year-old Sanisha Johnson of New York was shot to death at an extended-stay hotel.

The men - Epshod Jeune and Derrell Fisher - are accused of allegedly targeting Johnson and other females using the online classified site “Backpage.”

Authorities say Johnson posted an add on the site advertising the services and Jeune responded.

They are also believed to have assaulted and robbed another woman at a nearby hotel last Wednesday..

The crime is just the latest in a growing number of similar concerning situations.

Healey tells the Boston Herald that more needs to be done regarding sites like Craigslist and Backpage that are what she calls portals for criminals.

Authorities are also looking for a third person who may have been driving a getaway car. The DA’s Office wants to look into whether other incidents like this have occurred.

Anyone impacted or with information is asked to call (781) 897-6600.
