A Massachusetts family's weekend of snowmobiling fun in Maine turned into a nightmare when two snowmobiles used by their children were stolen.

Dan and Jennifer Smith of Pembroke, Massachusetts, brought their three sons, ages 8, 6 and 3, to last weekend's Snodeo events in Rangeley.

The family parked the children's Polaris 120cc snowmobiles - one orange and black and the other blue and red - behind a restaurant Saturday, after the boys had ridden in an event.

Then they went to bed in an adjacent inn.

When they woke up the next morning, the snowmobiles were gone.

Dan Smith tells the Sun Journal there were snowmobiles parked everywhere, but only the two children's sleds were taken.

Rangeley police say they are investigating.
