Mass. School Elects 2 Prom Kings After Policy Change

School officials did away with a prom king and queen to promote equality

For the first time in history, Andover High School in Massachusetts has elected two prom kings.

School officials did away with a prom king and queen to promote equality.

Students voted for the two students they thought would be the best fit for the prom court and the two are not a couple.

Those in favor of the idea say this also helps transgendered persons feel more accepted.

There are some critics who worry about what this means for gender based titles like "best male and female athletes."
