A Massachusetts surfer was rescued after he was found floating face down in water off Easton's Beach in Newport.

The Newport Daily News reports that the 67-year-old man from Chatham, Massachusetts, was rescued Monday morning. His name has not been released.

Fire Capt. Paul Faerber says the call came in around 7:30 a.m.

He says other surfers in the area noticed the man's surfboard floating in the water. They looked for him and found him floating unconscious and brought him to shore, where an off-duty firefighter began CPR.
