A Boston man is facing drunken driving charges after he allegedly hit and seriously injured a Department of Transportation worker on a Massachusetts highway.
State police say 59-year-old Carlos Gonzalez was traveling on Route 90 westbound at about 1 a.m. Monday morning when he struck a MassDOT employee working in an active construction zone around the Exit 24/25 off-ramp in Boston.
Police allege Gonzalez failed to stop after the accident, but was located a short time later.
The 60-year old MassDOT employee, who has not been identified, was transported to Boston Medical Center with serious injuries.
Gonzalez will be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court later Monday. He faces charges including negligent operation of a vehicle under the influence of alcohol causing serious injury and leaving the scene of a crash.
