Massachusetts State Police Say Goodbye to Equine Member Elliot

The Massachusetts State Police Mounted Unit is saying goodbye to one of their equine members.

Elliot, a long serving member of the unit, passed away earlier this week. Authorities say he was surrounded by mounted Troopers.

Elliot served 15 years with the force. He patrolled many parks and beaches and was a crowd favorite.

Police say Elliot really excelled at school and camp events because of his kind way with children.

He competed in the 2014 North American Police Equestrian Championships in New Castle, Delaware, where he earned a third-place overall in combined flat and obstacle courses with Trooper Cristel Sloan.
