Massachusetts State Police Trooper Struck by Motorcycle Released From Hospital

A trooper police say was struck Saturday by a drunk motorcyclist in Revere, Massachusetts, has been released from the hospital.

The department confirmed Sunday that the injured trooper was returning home after being treated at Massachusetts General Hospital for injuries to his head and upper body.

Police say 26-year-old Danilo DiRoche of Lynn was drunk when he slammed his bike into the trooper, who had just gotten out of his cruiser after stopping another vehicle.

DiRoche faces a list of charges including operating under the influence, leaving the scene of a crash causing injury, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, driving to endanger and failure to stop.

The suspect was taken to Whidden Hospital Saturday night. State police said Saturday they expected to book him upon his release. It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney.
