Mechanics at a Branford car dealership got quite a surprise on Wednesday when a large amount of drugs fell from the car they were working on.

According to police, mechanics at Branfon Honda on Route 1 put the car on a lift, breaking a case that had been attached to the undercarriage, and spilling the drugs out onto the floor.

The customer, 34-year-old Kevlon Hutchings, of New Haven, was waiting at the dealership for his car to be serviced, police said. Employees called police, who showed up and arrested Hutchings.

In all, Hutchings had 15 grams of powder cocaine, 15 grams of crack cocaine, a capsule of "Molly", drug packaging material and nearly $1,800 in cash hidden under the car, according to police.

Hutchings was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance within 1,500 feet of a school.

He posted a $25,000 bond and is scheduled to be in court on March 15.
