The National Weather Service confirms that a series of microbursts caused damage in Western Massachusetts on Sunday morning.
A microburst is a localized area of intense, straight line winds that come out of a storm.
Winds of 85 mph brought down trees, and damaged some boats and homes between Hillsdale, New York and Egremont, Massachusetts.
The damage occurred between 7:55 and 8:05 a.m. as gusty showers and storms moved through New England.
Even away from the areas impacted by the microburst winds gusted close to 60 mph on Sunday morning.
