Mom Charged in 2016 Crash That Killed Her 6-Year-Old Son

A Methuen, Massachusetts, mother is facing a motor vehicle homicide charge in connection with the crash that killed her 6-year-old boy in July 2016.

Flor De Paz, 35, was arraigned in court Wednesday on a charge of motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation and failure to have a child restrained properly in a car seat.

The incident happened on Berkeley Street and East Brook Place on July 19.

According to police, DePaz was traveling eastbound on East Brook Place and, when she entered Berkeley Street, was struck by another vehicle.

DePaz’s son was ejected from the vehicle and was hit by a van. DePaz was taken to Lawrence General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
